about us
who we are
electric city and diamond city are Northeastern Pa.'s premier arts & entertainment weekly newspapers, published every Thursday from our offices in Scranton and Wilkes-Barre.

Locally owned and written by local writers, e.c. and d.c. provide a comprehensive guide to the area's thriving arts & entertainment scene, and have become an integral component in the revitalization of Scranton (aka the "Electric City") and Wilkes-Barre (aka the "Diamond City").

We're THE authority on the local cultural landscape, but not just on music, movies, theater, art, dining, and current events ... we cover pressing issues and trends the other papers are afraid to touch. Our target readers – upwardly mobile young adults ages 18 to 35 – rely on us for the region’s only truly alternative voice.

electric city and diamond city: Accept no substitutes.

where to find us
electric city and diamond city are distributed free every Thursday to more than 800 locations across Northeastern Pa. e.c. is distributed throughout Lackawanna County and parts of Wayne and Wyoming counties, while d.c. is available at locations all around Luzerne County.

Each week, we reach more than 60,000 readers through controlled-circulation drop points, including our signature yellow newspaper boxes and retail locations such as restaurants, entertainment spots, and other high-traffic public places.

To have e.c. added to your business, or to find the nearest distribution point, contact Amy Carlson at (570) 344-4898. For information about d.c. distribution, call John Hogan at (570) 821-2108.

Editorial Internships
electric city/diamond city offers spring, summer, and fall internships for aspiring editorial talents interested in helping produce Northeastern Pa.’s leading arts and entertainment weeklies.

Participants should be enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate degree program, although recent grads also will be considered. Internships are non-paying, so we encourage applicants who can use them for college credit. Typically, internships last 12 weeks and require 10 hours of work per week.

Some grunt work is involved, but ec/dc internships also require LOTS of writing – including generating in-depth features, short pieces for our current events section, and concert reviews. Interns also will be expected to assist in the compilation of the region’s most comprehensive current events listings. Further responsibilities include proofreading and fact checking. Interns also will work on projects in conjuction with the570.com, a new regional Web portal affiliated with ec/dc.

We select candidates based on experience, writing ability, and area of study, as well as energy, enthusiasm, and professionalism. A willingness to show up on time, work with minimal supervision, and meet deadlines is essential. Familiarity with the Northeastern Pa. arts and entertainment scene is preferred but not required.

Applications are considered for fall, spring, and summer internships. Deadlines: Aug. 31 (fall), Dec. 31 (spring), April 30 (summer).
